My Updates
Why this matters.
Thursday 12th FebI’m growing a mullet — not just because it looks iconic (which it already does if you know me), but because it stands for something bigger.
The mental health system in Victoria is in crisis, and too many people are fighting their battles quietly with a government that won’t listen to participants or workers.
For Australian men, the pressure to “tough it out” is still everywhere — in our workplaces, our families, our friendships. We’re taught to be strong, but not taught how to ask for help.
That silence is costing lives, 21.5% of Australians experience a mental disorder in any given year and the Jacinta Allan governments refusal to listen is deepening this crisis. The system is at breaking point.
And for the LGBTQIA+ community, the weight is even heavier.
Higher rates of anxiety, depression, discrimination, and isolation aren’t abstract statistics — they’re the lived reality of people we love. People who deserve safety, support, and a world that doesn’t make them justify their existence.
So this mullet isn’t just a haircut.
It’s a conversation starter.
It’s a reminder that vulnerability is strength.
It’s a way to raise funds for the services that keep people alive, connected, and seen.
In unity.
