Support my mullet to help prevent suicide

I'm growing my mullet this April for Black Dog Institute's Mullets for Mental Health.

1 in 5 Australians will experience mental illness in their lifetime. Over 75% of mental health problems occur before the age of 25.

My mullet and funds raised will help us drive real change and fund ground-breaking mental health research. This will put digital services and education into the hands of people who need it the most.

It would mean a lot to me if you donated to support my mullet.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

It’s personal

Thursday 26th Feb

I don’t want to talk about mental health like it’s some far-away thing. In Australia, suicide is taking about 9 people a day, and our mob are hit harder, with rates around 2–3x higher than non-Indigenous Australians. I’m doing Mullet for Mental Health to raise funds, but also to remind people to check in on each other.

The cut

Thursday 19th Feb
The cut has happened. The Ratty stays.

The goal was smashed

Sunday 15th Feb
So the $250 was smashed yesterday. My goal has been raised to $1000 now. I think we can do it!

Growing a Mullet for the Ones Who Didn’t Get Help in Time

Saturday 14th Feb

Mental health isn’t abstract to me. It’s personal. I’ve seen what happens when support is hard to access, when people are told to “just cope,” when the system feels like a maze with no exits.

1 in 5 Australians will experience mental illness in their lifetime. Most mental health conditions begin before the age of 25. That’s not just a statistic. That’s our friends. Our siblings. Our kids. Us.

If growing an unapologetic, slightly chaotic mullet helps start conversations and raise funds for better research, education and support, then I’ll wear it proudly.

Support the mullet. Support mental health. Let’s make it easier for people to ask for help and actually receive it.
