Because Breaking the Silence Matters
I’m growing a mullet this April for Black Dog Institute’s Mullets for Mental Health—because mental health doesn’t have a ‘look’, and too many people are slipping through the cracks.
Every day, 9 Australians take their own lives. It’s often the ones who seem the strongest—the hard workers, the quiet strugglers, the ones who never ask for help. We lose them because we don’t check in, because we assume they’re “fine,” because talking about mental health still feels uncomfortable.
That has to change.
This isn’t just about a mullet—it’s about breaking the silence. It’s about making these conversations normal, constant, and loud enough that no one gets left behind. The funds raised will go directly towards mental health research, life-saving resources, education, and suicide prevention—getting real support to the people who need it most.
We need to talk. We need to listen. We need to make it okay to ask, to check in, and to say, “I’m struggling.”
If you can, please donate—because too many lives depend on it.
