Support my mullet to help prevent suicide

I'm growing my mullet this April for Black Dog Institute's Mullets for Mental Health.

9 people in Australia die by suicide every day. Over 75% of mental health problems occur before the age of 25.

My mullet and funds raised will help us drive real change and fund ground-breaking mental health research. This will put digital services and education into the hands of people who need it the most.

It would mean a lot to me if you donated to support my mullet.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

End of April result

Monday 5th May
There are ringlets developing at the bottom, and many a friend supporting the continual growth of this mullet. So shall I keep it after this fundraiser is done? Maybe it'll make me more aerodynamic on the waves. 🏄‍♀️ $1515 achieved! What an amazing effort when I was truly thinking it'd be hard to reach my initial goal of $350! THANK YOU ALL!

WE DID IT! + Rest in Peace C.

Wow everyone! We did it. We reached 1000 dollarbucks! I honestly was not expecting this! A support circle tenfold to what I thought I had! Thank you!

When I first joined, I was happy if I was to achieve $350. As I laid down in my hospital bed at night, embraced by the starchy bleached white sheets, I'd scan over the progress. I was constantly blown away by the generous donations, almost on a daily.
I have not pushed this fundraiser in peoples faces, I have barely mentioned it, outside of Facebook, so this support blows my mind.

Mental Health becomes the primary voice inside your head. It pushes you down into the depths of irrational thoughts. It constantly tells you that you are alone, and you matter to no one. That you are a burden if you want to disclose how you are really feeling to someone. That you don't deserve a moment of attention or care from others.

On the weekend, Mental Health took another beautiful soul. Weeks earlier, this soul reached out after I put my first post about this fundraiser. We spoke about the black dog, however, unbeknownst to me, there was still more below the surface. His actions have left a widespread community in shock. I wish I could have done something more, however wise words of a friend have helped me accept his passing: "we can't blame ourselves, as one never knows." I really didn't know the extent of darkness he was living in. A lot of us never do.

This challenge has shown me that I have mates on the same page as myself. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. That you are loved, we all are, despite how alone we may feel. There are going to be tough moments where you no longer see the light, but eventually these moments will pass. Trust me.

We all know how good it feels to have a haircut- to pamper yourself. To reward yourself. So today I did just that. I entered a  little hole in the wall: a barber that had every seat full.
A young lad, barely 18 took me in and I said, "so I'm growing this mullet for charity. Can you make it POP for me??" And away he went. Pretty happy with the results, and SUPER stoked with everyone's generous donations! Thank you, keep spreading the word and I'll keep rocking the mullet.

Have a great Easter and pamper yourself when you get the chance- you'll feel better for it!
