The Tea Tree Gully Women’s Football Team is Kicking Goals for Mental Health!

This April, our team is growing and supporting those who grow mullets for Black Dog Institute’s Mullets for Mental Health —because just like on the footy field, teamwork is key to tackling mental health challenges head-on.  

Mental health is a game-changer, especially for women aged 18 to 45. This is a time when we juggle careers, relationships, families, and personal pressures—all of which can take a toll on our well-being. Women in this age group are twice as likely as men to experience anxiety, depression, or stress-related conditions. Despite this, many suffer in silence, fearing stigma or feeling like they have to “play on” without asking for help.  

That’s why we’re lacing up our boots and growing out our mullets—to raise funds for groundbreaking mental health research, digital support services, and education through the Black Dog Institute. Every dollar we raise helps ensure that women and all Australians have access to the resources they need to stay mentally strong.  

Mental health, like football, is about teamwork—when we support each other, we all play better. We’re not just teammates on the field; we’re in this fight together, building a culture where no one has to tackle their struggles alone.
