How your fundraising dollars are used
Black Dog Institute is the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan. Black Dog Institute is driven to support that 65% of the community who would not ordinarily seek help and we do that through Science, Compassion and Action.
We need your help to connect research answers, expert knowledge and the voices of people who have experienced mental ill-health to deliver solutions that work.
The money raised by you and the Mullets for Mental Health community is used to create real-world action in these three important areas:

More education, training & resources
Thanks to your support we were able to deliver more programs to train and equip teachers to help students in schools manage their anxiety and get the help they need.
Funds raised by Mullets for Mental Health help us to get out to regional areas and talk to rural communities about mental health and where to get support.

Using technology to help teens sleep better
Many teenagers don’t get enough sleep, and sleep problems are linked to an increased risk of mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression.
Your support helps us share the Sleep Ninja app with teens who are struggling to sleep.

Funding mental health research
Your support will help us fund more research assistants. These research assistants will work on providing the greatest levels of care and safety for research participants across new digital programs (such as apps or online support), biological treatments (like medicines or drugs) and psychological therapies.
You are helping us create new treatments for people living with anxiety, depression, and other common mental illnesses.
Why support Black Dog Institute?
Black Dog Institute is the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across a person’s whole lifespan. We aim to support the 65% of people in our community who would ordinarily not seek help when they’re struggling with their mental health. We want to help as many people as possible and create a mentally healthier world. We do that through Science, Compassion and Action.
Black Dog Institute is now celebrating 20 years of impact in mental health research. Over that time, we’ve expanded from treating and researching mood disorders to becoming leaders in suicide prevention, digital mental health, workplace mental health, new treatments, and early intervention to help young people.
